Far East Orchard, a Singapore-based real estate company, has announced that it has completed the second stage of the phased acquisition of Homes For Students (HFS), a leading student accommodation provider in the UK. Far East Orchard now holds an 84% interest in HFS, significantly increasing its initial stake of 49% which was acquired in April 2024 for GBP17.6 million.The first stage of the acquisition, in which Far East Orchard acquired an additional 35% stake in HFS for GBP25 million (approximately $43.3 million) was completed earlier.Located in more than 55 university towns and cities in the UK and Ireland, HFS provides an integrated student accommodation management and facilities management service, operating over 55,000 beds. Far East Orchard is set to acquire the remaining stake in HFS by November 2030. This deal solidifies HFS as a subsidiary of Far East Orchard.Shares in Far East Orchard closed 1 cent lower at $1.25 on Sept 30.
