Thomson Medical Group Launches Rm18 Bil Johor Bay Development

Thomson Medical Group has recently announced the launch of its new project, Johor Bay, which is estimated to have a gross development value of RM18 billion. The 26-acre site, located within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, will feature a mix of healthcare, luxury residential and hospitality, commercial, and lifestyle components. Its strategic location, being only 1.2km from the upcoming RTS station at Bukit Chagar and in close proximity to the Causeway and regional ferry terminals, makes it a highly sought-after development.

According to Thomson Medical Group, which is owned by former Remisier King Peter Lim, this project is one of the largest private healthcare and real estate ventures in Southeast Asia. With Thomson Hospital Iskandariah as one of the major developments, the project is well-positioned to benefit from the growing demand for high-quality living at affordable costs, the upcoming completion of the RTS, and the increasing momentum of the JSSEZ.

Kiat Lim, the executive vice chairman of Thomson Medical Group, believes that the timing for this project is perfect, as it aligns with the economic growth, infrastructure development, and demographic shifts in the region. He believes that this project will not only shape the skyline but also the future of the JSSEZ bay area for years to come.

The first phase of the development will feature Thomson Hospital Iskandariah and a 47-storey ultra-luxury residential tower. YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor, has expressed his support for this project, stating that it is a timely and strategic development that will contribute to the state’s long-term goals. He also believes that the wider Johor Bay project will help strengthen Johor’s position as a premier healthcare hub and contribute to the state’s overall economic growth under the JS-SEZ.
